Make crispy, flavorful garlic parmesan chicken wings using your air fryer. This recipe uses a dry coating method for maximum crispiness without breading.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings very dry using paper towels. This step is key for crispiness.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the dry wings with baking powder, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
  4. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring there is space between each piece. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary.
  5. Air fry for 18 minutes.
  6. Flip the wings and increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C). Air fry for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the wings are deeply golden brown and crispy.
  7. While the wings finish cooking, prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and minced garlic.
  8. In a separate large bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley.
  9. Remove the hot, crispy wings from the air fryer and immediately toss them in the garlic butter mixture until coated.
  10. Transfer the buttered wings to the bowl with the Parmesan mixture and toss gently until the wings are fully coated in cheese.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Using aluminum-free baking powder helps the skin brown without adding a metallic taste.
  • For the crispiest results, do not skip the initial pat-dry step.
  • If your air fryer runs hot, check the wings at the 15-minute mark during the first cook cycle.
