Make crispy sweet potato fries in your air fryer coated with garlic and Parmesan cheese. This recipe requires no deep frying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, scrubbed and cut into fry shapes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional, for color)

Instructions

  1. Soak the cut sweet potato fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes. Drain them completely and pat them very dry with paper towels. Drying is key for crispness.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the dry sweet potato fries with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
  4. Place the seasoned fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  5. Air fry for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time.
  6. Once the fries are tender inside and slightly crispy, remove the basket from the air fryer.
  7. Immediately sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the hot fries and toss gently to coat. The residual heat will help the cheese adhere.
  8. Return the fries to the air fryer for 1 to 2 more minutes, just until the cheese melts slightly and browns lightly.
  9. Remove from the air fryer, sprinkle with dried parsley if using, and serve right away.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can lightly spray the fries with cooking spray before adding the Parmesan cheese.
  • Do not skip drying the potatoes after soaking; excess moisture prevents crisping.
  • Serve these fries with a simple Greek yogurt dip mixed with a little extra garlic powder.
