Make this decadent, layered chocolate dessert using pre-made brownies and creamy fillings. This cake requires no oven time and sets perfectly in the refrigerator.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (18.3 ounce) package chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 (18 ounce) box pre-baked fudge brownies, cut into 1/2 inch thick squares
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies finely in a food processor. Mix the cookie crumbs with the melted butter. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan. Chill the crust for 15 minutes.
  2. Beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy whipping cream together until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the instant chocolate pudding mix with the cold milk until the mixture thickens, about 2 minutes. Gently fold the whipped topping into the pudding mixture until just combined.
  4. Spread half of the brownie squares evenly over the chilled crust.
  5. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer.
  6. Spoon half of the chocolate pudding mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  7. Repeat the layers: remaining brownies, remaining cream cheese mixture, and finally, the remaining chocolate pudding mixture.
  8. Cover the pan tightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight, until the cake is firm.
  9. Before serving, carefully release the springform side. Garnish the top with chocolate shavings.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought brownies or bake your favorite recipe ahead of time for this cake.
  • For easier slicing, let the cake sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before cutting.
  • Use dark chocolate pudding mix for a richer flavor profile.
