Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 slices of challah or brioche bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 candy canes, crushed
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated.
  3. Melt butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  4. Place the soaked bread slices in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. While the French toast is cooking, stir the crushed candy canes into the maple syrup.
  6. Serve the French toast immediately, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with the candy cane maple syrup.

Notes

  • For a stronger candy cane flavor, add more crushed candy canes to the syrup.
  • Challah or brioche bread works best due to its rich texture.
  • Ensure the skillet is not too hot to prevent burning the bread.
