Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons turbinado sugar
  • Caramel sauce for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour until evenly coated.
  3. Unfold the puff pastry sheet onto the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Arrange the apple slices in the center of the puff pastry, leaving a 2-inch border.
  5. Dot the apples with the small pieces of butter.
  6. Fold the pastry border up and over the edges of the apples, pleating as needed to create a rustic edge.
  7. Brush the folded pastry border with the beaten egg wash.
  8. Sprinkle the pastry border with turbinado sugar.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  10. Let the galette cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring it to a wire rack.
  11. Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving warm.

Notes

  • You can use your favorite type of apple, such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala.
  • For an extra touch of flavor, you can add a pinch of ground ginger to the apple mixture.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an even more decadent treat.
