- 1/4 cup Salad Dressing (e.g., vinaigrette)
- 1/4 cup Hard Vegetables (e.g., carrots, bell peppers, cucumbers)
- 1/4 cup Grains or Beans (e.g., quinoa, chickpeas)
- 1/2 cup Protein (e.g., grilled chicken, tofu)
- 1/2 cup Soft Vegetables (e.g., tomatoes, mushrooms)
- 1 cup Leafy Greens (e.g., spinach, mixed lettuce)
- Pour your salad dressing into the bottom of a wide-mouth mason jar (16 oz or larger).
- Layer the hard vegetables directly on top of the dressing. This acts as a barrier.
- Add grains or beans next.
- Place your protein source on top of the grains.
- Add softer vegetables next, layering carefully.
- Fill the remaining space with leafy greens, packing them in gently.
- Seal the jar tightly with the lid.
- When ready to eat, shake the jar well or pour the contents into a bowl to distribute the dressing.
Notes
- Always place the dressing at the very bottom of the jar.
- Keep hard ingredients between the dressing and softer items to prevent sogginess.
- Prepare up to five jars on Sunday for lunches throughout the work week.
- Use a quality jar with a tight-sealing lid for best freshness.
