Ingredients
Scale
4 (6 ounce) white fish fillets (cod, tilapia, or haddock)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 lemon, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. This helps them cook evenly.
In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
Place the fish fillets in the prepared baking dish. Brush the oil and garlic mixture evenly over the top of each fillet.
Place two or three thin lemon slices on top of each fillet.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. Cooking time depends on the thickness of your fillets.
Remove from the oven. Sprinkle with fresh parsley, if using, before serving.
Notes
For moist fish, you can bake the fillets inside foil packets. Place each fillet on a large piece of foil, top with the oil mixture and lemon slices, seal the foil tightly, and bake for 15-18 minutes.
If you use salmon, increase the baking time by 2-4 minutes.
You can substitute dried herbs for fresh parsley if needed.
