Prepare this simple, no-cook breakfast the night before for a ready-to-eat, healthy meal in the morning.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen)

Instructions

  1. Combine the rolled oats, chia seeds, milk, sweetener (if using), and vanilla extract (if using) in a jar or container with a lid.
  2. Stir the mixture well to combine all ingredients and prevent the chia seeds from clumping at the bottom.
  3. Gently stir in the mixed berries. If using frozen berries, they will thaw overnight and release juice.
  4. Seal the container and place it in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight.
  5. In the morning, stir the oats again. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash more milk until you reach your preferred consistency.
  6. Eat cold directly from the container.

Notes

  • For a thicker texture, increase the chia seeds to 1.5 tablespoons.
  • If you prefer a thinner consistency, increase the milk by 1/4 cup.
  • You can store prepared overnight oats in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Use any milk you prefer; almond, soy, or cow’s milk work well.
