Make these easy roasted stuffed dates wrapped in bacon for an elegant, sweet and savory party appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Medjool dates
  • 4 ounces soft goat cheese
  • 12 thin slices bacon
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Carefully slice each date lengthwise down one side and remove the pit.
  3. Stuff approximately 1 teaspoon of goat cheese into the center of each pitted date.
  4. Wrap one slice of bacon tightly around the center of each stuffed date, securing the cheese inside. You may need a toothpick to hold the bacon in place if it loosens during baking.
  5. Place the wrapped dates seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, turning halfway through, until the bacon is crisp and cooked through.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on the baking sheet.
  8. Drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • Use toothpicks to secure the bacon if you are worried about it unraveling during cooking.
  • For a quicker version, you can skip the oven and wrap the dates in prosciutto instead of bacon, serving them fresh for a no-bake option.
  • If you do not have goat cheese, cream cheese or mascarpone work well as substitutes.
