Make these simple taco pinwheels using flour tortillas, seasoned ground beef, and a creamy cheese filling. They are perfect for appetizers or game day snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion
  • 4 large flour tortillas (about 10 inches each)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Stir the taco seasoning mix into the cooked beef according to package directions, usually adding a small amount of water. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and green onion. Mix until smooth.
  4. Spread a thin, even layer of the cheese mixture over one side of each flour tortilla, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Spoon the cooled taco meat mixture evenly over the cheese layer on each tortilla.
  6. Roll each tortilla up tightly, starting from one edge.
  7. Wrap the rolled tortillas tightly in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to 24 hours, to firm up.
  8. When ready to serve, unwrap the tortillas and slice each roll into 1-inch thick pinwheels.

Notes

  • For a spicier flavor, add 1 teaspoon of chili powder or a dash of hot sauce to the cheese mixture.
  • If you prefer chicken, substitute cooked, shredded chicken for the ground beef.
  • You can assemble these up to one day ahead of time for easy party prep.
