Ingredients
Scale
1 cup milk (whole milk works best for creaminess)
1 cup ice cubes
1 packet hot cocoa mix (about 1.25 oz)
Optional Topping: Whipped cream and chocolate curls
Instructions
Place the milk, ice cubes, and hot cocoa mix into your blender.
Secure the lid and blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and thick, resembling a milkshake. This usually takes about 30 to 60 seconds.
Taste the mixture. If you want it sweeter or more chocolatey, add a small amount of extra cocoa mix or a teaspoon of chocolate syrup and blend again briefly.
Pour the creamy frozen hot chocolate into a tall glass.
Top generously with whipped cream and chocolate curls or shavings before serving immediately.
Notes
For an even richer, copycat Panera style frozen hot chocolate, substitute half the milk with half-and-half or use a tablespoon of chocolate fudge sauce in the blender.
If you want a thicker frozen chocolate shake, reduce the amount of milk slightly or add 2-3 extra ice cubes.
This recipe is kid friendly and makes one generous serving or two smaller servings.
