Ingredients
Scale
1 box (18.3 oz) fudge brownie mix
Ingredients listed on brownie mix box (usually eggs, oil, water)
1/2 cup hot cocoa mix (powdered)
1/2 cup marshmallow fluff
1 cup mini marshmallows
Instructions
Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the brownie mix box. Grease and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
Prepare the brownie batter according to the box directions, substituting the required water with 1/2 cup of hot cocoa mix dissolved in the required amount of hot water, or follow the box instructions and mix in the dry hot cocoa powder with the dry mix.
Pour half of the prepared batter into the bottom of the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Dollop spoonfuls of the marshmallow fluff over the batter layer. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the fluff into the batter.
Pour the remaining batter over the top and spread gently to cover the swirl layer.
Bake for the time recommended on the box for a fudgy texture.
Remove the brownies from the oven about 3 minutes before the total bake time is complete. Sprinkle the mini marshmallows evenly over the top.
Return the pan to the oven and bake for the remaining 3 minutes, or until the marshmallows are puffed and lightly golden brown. Watch closely to prevent burning.
Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting out and cutting into squares.
Notes
For extra flavor, use melted butter instead of oil as listed on the box instructions.
If you prefer a thicker swirl, use 3/4 cup of marshmallow fluff.
You can toast the top marshmallows under a broiler for 30-60 seconds after baking, watching constantly.
