Make this refreshing, layered Iced Pineapple Matcha Spritz using pineapple juice and sparkling water for a bright, caffeinated summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (not boiling)
  • 4 ounces pineapple juice, chilled
  • 4 ounces sparkling water or club soda, chilled
  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup or sweetener of choice (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Pineapple wedge or lime wheel for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the matcha powder in a small bowl or matcha bowl.
  2. Pour 2 tablespoons of hot water over the matcha. Whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk or small electric frother until the matcha is completely smooth and slightly frothy, with no clumps. Set aside.
  3. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  4. Pour the chilled pineapple juice into the glass over the ice. If using, stir in the simple syrup now.
  5. Gently pour the sparkling water over the pineapple juice layer.
  6. Slowly pour the prepared matcha mixture over the back of a spoon held just above the liquid surface. This helps create a layered effect.
  7. Garnish with a pineapple wedge or lime wheel before serving immediately.

Notes

  • Use high-quality ceremonial or culinary grade matcha for the best color and flavor.
  • Ensure your water for whisking the matcha is hot (around 175°F or 80°C), but not boiling, to prevent bitterness.
  • For an extra tropical flavor, use pineapple sparkling water instead of plain club soda.
