Create a satisfying Korean Beef Bibimbap Bowl featuring tender bulgogi beef, colorful fresh vegetables, and a perfectly fried egg over warm rice. This recipe brings the comforting flavors of Korea right to your dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 cups mixed fresh vegetables (e.g., spinach, carrots, zucchini, mushrooms)
  • 4 large eggs
  • Vegetable oil for cooking
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) for serving (optional)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Add the ground beef to the marinade, mixing well to coat. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Cook the marinated beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up until it is fully browned and slightly caramelized. Set aside.
  4. Prepare the vegetables. You can quickly sauté or blanch each vegetable separately until tender-crisp, seasoning lightly with salt and a drop of sesame oil if desired.
  5. In a clean skillet, cook the four eggs sunny-side up or over easy, aiming for a runny yolk.
  6. To assemble the bowls, divide the cooked rice among four bowls.
  7. Arrange the cooked bulgogi beef and the prepared vegetables neatly over the rice in separate sections.
  8. Top each bowl with one fried egg.
  9. Serve immediately with gochujang on the side for those who like heat, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds if you wish.

Notes

  • You can substitute the ground beef with thinly sliced sirloin or ribeye for a more traditional Bulgogi texture.
  • Feel free to use any combination of vegetables you have on hand; blanching them separately helps maintain their color and texture.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the beef with marinated and pan-fried tofu.
