Ingredients
Scale
1 can (15 ounces) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1/4 cup tahini
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for drizzling
1/4 cup water, or more as needed
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
Pinch of cumin (optional)
Instructions
Combine the drained chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, salt, and cumin (if using) in a food processor.
Process until the mixture is mostly smooth.
With the food processor running, gradually add the water, one tablespoon at a time, until the hummus reaches your desired creamy consistency.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding more salt or lemon juice.
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with a little extra olive oil and serve with your favorite dippers.
Notes
For a smoother hummus, you can peel the chickpeas before processing.
Adjust the amount of garlic and lemon juice to your preference.
If you don’t have tahini, you can use unsalted sunflower seed butter as a substitute.
