Bake these chewy Maple Walnut Blondies for a comforting, seasonally spiced dessert bar. You will love the rich maple flavor paired with crunchy walnuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
  • 1/4 cup extra maple syrup for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until completely smooth.
  3. Whisk in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the toasted chopped walnuts.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  8. If desired, drizzle the extra 1/4 cup of maple syrup lightly over the top of the batter.
  9. Bake for 28 to 32 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs attached. You want these chewy!
  10. Let the blondies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting them out using the parchment overhang.
  11. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Toasting the walnuts brings out their best flavor.
  • For extra chewiness, slightly underbake them.
  • Use pure maple syrup, not pancake syrup, for the best taste.
