Make quick, sweet, and salty pretzel clusters using only melted chocolate. This recipe requires no oven time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or shortening
  • 4 cups small pretzel twists or broken pretzel pieces
  • 1/2 cup chopped peanuts or M&Ms (optional mix-in)
  • 2 tablespoons white chocolate or colored candy melts (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
  2. Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until the chocolate is smooth and completely melted. Do not overheat.
  4. Alternatively, melt the chocolate mixture in a double boiler over simmering water, stirring constantly until smooth.
  5. Gently fold the pretzels and any optional mix-ins into the melted chocolate until they are fully coated. Work quickly before the chocolate sets.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, forming small clusters.
  7. If using, melt the white chocolate or candy melts separately using the same microwave method. Drizzle the contrasting chocolate over the clusters.
  8. Allow the clusters to set completely at room temperature for about 1 hour, or place them in the refrigerator for 20 minutes for faster setting.
  9. Store the finished clusters in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For a fudgier texture, substitute half of the semi-sweet chocolate chips with milk chocolate chips.
  • If the chocolate thickens too much while mixing, microwave it for another 10 seconds.
  • Use parchment paper for easy removal of the set clusters.
