Make a quick, flavorful olive oil dip for bread using garlic, Italian herbs, and balsamic vinegar. This no-cook appetizer takes five minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced finely
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, oregano, black pepper, and salt into a shallow serving dish or small bowl.
  2. Pour the extra virgin olive oil over the spices and garlic mixture.
  3. Stir the ingredients together gently to combine the flavors.
  4. Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the top of the oil mixture. Do not stir the vinegar in completely; let it settle slightly for visual appeal.
  5. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top, if you are using it.
  6. Serve immediately with slices of crusty bread, such as a baguette or focaccia.

Notes

  • For a stronger garlic flavor, let the mixture sit for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Use high-quality extra virgin olive oil for the best taste.
  • If you prefer fresh herbs, use 1 teaspoon of fresh chopped rosemary or thyme instead of dried Italian seasoning.
