This Pan Seared Salmon with Citrus Glaze is a light and flavorful holiday main dish. It features perfectly seared salmon fillets topped with a bright, zesty citrus glaze. It’s a simple yet elegant recipe that’s perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each), skin on or off
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • For the Citrus Glaze:
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • Zest of 1/2 orange
  • Zest of 1/2 lemon
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the citrus glaze: orange juice, lemon juice, honey, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, grated ginger, orange zest, and lemon zest. Set aside.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the salmon fillets in the skillet, presentation-side down.
  5. Sear for 4-5 minutes, until a golden-brown crust forms.
  6. Flip the salmon fillets.
  7. Pour the citrus glaze over the salmon in the skillet.
  8. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the glaze simmer and thicken, basting the salmon with the glaze as it cooks, for another 3-5 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through to your desired doneness.
  9. Remove the salmon from the skillet and place it on serving plates.
  10. Spoon any remaining glaze from the skillet over the salmon.
  11. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For crispier skin, ensure the salmon is very dry before searing.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the glaze by adding more or less honey.
  • You can substitute lime juice for lemon juice for a different citrus note.
