Create rich, decadent fudge bars featuring a perfect swirl of creamy peanut butter throughout a smooth chocolate base. These homemade treats deliver an intense, satisfying flavor that captures the classic peanut butter cup experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (10 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter chips (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare an 8×8 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for exactly one minute.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Whisk in the cocoa powder and sweetened condensed milk until smooth.
  5. Pour half of the chocolate mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  6. In a separate small bowl, mix the 1 cup of creamy peanut butter with the powdered sugar until well combined and crumbly.
  7. Press the peanut butter mixture evenly over the chocolate layer in the pan.
  8. Gently pour the remaining chocolate mixture over the peanut butter layer.
  9. If using, sprinkle peanut butter chips over the top.
  10. Refrigerate the bars for at least 4 hours, or until completely firm.
  11. Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the fudge out of the pan. Cut into squares before serving.

Notes

  • For the best swirl, do not overmix when pouring the final chocolate layer.
  • Use high-quality cocoa powder for a deeper chocolate flavor.
  • Chill time is crucial; do not rush the setting process.
  • Store leftover bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
