These decadent Peppermint Brownie Swirl Fudge Bars are the perfect holiday treat. They combine a rich, fudgy brownie base with a festive peppermint bark swirl, creating a delightful contrast of chocolate and mint.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (6 ounces) peppermint baking chips
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to easily lift the bars out.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the batter is smooth and glossy.
  5. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  7. Gently fold in the peppermint baking chips.
  8. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  9. Dollop spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter over the first layer.
  10. Using a knife or a skewer, swirl the top layer of batter into the bottom layer to create a marbled effect.
  11. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached. Avoid overbaking.
  12. Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  13. Once cooled, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang.
  14. If desired, sprinkle with crushed candy canes before cutting.
  15. Cut into bars and serve.

Notes

  • For an extra festive touch, you can add a drizzle of melted white chocolate over the top of the cooled bars.
  • Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
