Ingredients
Scale
2 oz Vodka
1 oz Freshly Brewed Espresso, cooled
0.75 oz Coffee Liqueur (e.g., Kahlua)
0.5 oz Peppermint Schnapps or Peppermint Syrup
0.5 oz Heavy Cream or Half-and-Half
Crushed peppermint candies, for rim (optional)
3 Coffee beans, for garnish
Instructions
If using a rim, prepare a shallow plate with crushed peppermint candies. Wet the rim of your martini glass with a lime wedge or water, then gently press the rim into the candies to coat. Set the glass aside.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
Add the vodka, cooled espresso, coffee liqueur, peppermint element, and heavy cream to the shaker.
Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds until the shaker is very cold and a good foam layer forms.
Double strain the mixture into your prepared martini glass.
Garnish the drink by floating three coffee beans on top of the foam layer.
Notes
Use high-quality, freshly pulled espresso for the best foam and flavor.
If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, substitute the vodka and liqueurs with chilled strong coffee, peppermint syrup, and a splash of cream.
For a chocolate peppermint variation, add 0.25 oz of chocolate syrup to the shaker.
