Make these simple pizza pinwheels using refrigerated crescent roll dough for a fast appetizer, party snack, or kid-friendly lunch item. They bake quickly and are full of classic pizza flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface. Do not separate the triangles; keep the dough in one large rectangle. Press the seams together gently to seal any gaps.
  3. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the entire surface of the dough, leaving a small 1/2 inch border along one long edge.
  4. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Top with the mini pepperoni slices.
  5. Starting from the long edge opposite the border you left, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the final seam closed to secure the roll.
  6. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 12 equal rounds, about 3/4 inch thick.
  7. Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between each piece.
  8. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and garlic powder. Brush this mixture lightly over the top of each pinwheel.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a crispier texture, you can bake these directly on a wire rack placed over a baking sheet.
  • These pinwheels freeze well after baking; cool completely, place in a freezer-safe bag, and reheat in a 350 degree oven until warmed through.
  • Substitute chopped cooked ham or cooked sausage for the pepperoni if desired.
