Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until well combined.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. In a small bowl, stir together pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice.
  7. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan.
  8. Dollop spoonfuls of the pumpkin mixture over the batter.
  9. Pour the remaining brownie batter over the pumpkin mixture.
  10. Dollop the remaining pumpkin mixture over the top layer of batter.
  11. Using a knife or skewer, gently swirl the pumpkin mixture into the brownie batter to create a marbled effect.
  12. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.
  13. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  14. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For an extra rich flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
  • Ensure your pumpkin puree is not pie filling, as it contains added sugar and spices.
  • To prevent overbaking, check for doneness a few minutes early.
