Ingredients
Scale
1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Optional: 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Press the tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess water. Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes.
In a medium bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until lightly coated. This helps achieve crispiness.
In a small bowl, whisk together the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil to create the glaze.
Place the coated tofu cubes and the broccoli florets on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle half of the prepared glaze over the tofu and broccoli mixture. Toss gently to coat everything evenly.
Spread the tofu and broccoli into a single layer on the sheet pan, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
Bake for 15 minutes.
Remove the pan from the oven. Drizzle the remaining half of the glaze over the tofu and broccoli. Gently toss everything on the pan.
Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender-crisp and the tofu is golden brown and slightly caramelized.
Remove from the oven, sprinkle with sesame seeds if using, and serve immediately.
Notes
Pressing the tofu is key for a firm texture; wrap the block in paper towels and place something heavy on top for 15-30 minutes.
For extra crispy tofu, you can toss the cornstarch-coated tofu with 1 teaspoon of oil separately and bake it for 10 minutes before adding the broccoli and the rest of the sauce.
Serve this dish over cooked brown rice, quinoa, or noodles.
