Warm up your winter evenings with this easy Spiced Citrus Apple Cider. This comforting, non-alcoholic drink blends the sweetness of apples with bright orange notes and classic warming spices like cinnamon. It is perfect for cozy gatherings or a quiet night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups Apple Cider (good quality)
  • 1 large Orange, sliced
  • 3 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 4 Whole Cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Allspice berries (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the apple cider, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and allspice berries in a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not let it boil vigorously.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the cider steep for at least 15 minutes to allow the spices to infuse fully. For a stronger flavor, steep for up to 30 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  5. Strain the cider through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the spices and orange pieces, or simply ladle the cider into mugs, ensuring you leave the solids behind.
  6. Serve hot. Garnish each mug with a fresh orange slice or a new cinnamon stick if desired.

Notes

  • Use unfiltered apple cider for the best, richest flavor.
  • You can substitute the orange with two strips of lemon peel for a tangier profile.
  • If you prefer a sweeter cider, add one tablespoon of brown sugar during the heating process.
  • This cider keeps well; reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
