Create festive and boozy Spiced Eggnog Truffles for a delightful Christmas dessert. These rich chocolate truffles capture the essence of eggnog with a hint of holiday spirit.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces good quality white chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup eggnog
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon rum or brandy (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons festive sprinkles or chopped nuts for coating

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped white chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream and eggnog over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not boil.
  3. Pour the hot cream mixture over the white chocolate. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then whisk until smooth and fully combined.
  4. Stir in the nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, and rum or brandy (if using).
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the ganache to prevent a skin from forming. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm enough to roll.
  6. Once firm, scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of the ganache and roll them into balls using your hands.
  7. Place the festive sprinkles or chopped nuts in a shallow dish.
  8. Roll each truffle in the sprinkles or nuts to coat.
  9. Place the finished truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  10. Refrigerate the truffles for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow them to set completely.

Notes

  • For a stronger eggnog flavor, you can reduce the heavy cream slightly and increase the eggnog.
  • Ensure your white chocolate is of good quality for the best texture and flavor.
  • If you prefer not to use alcohol, you can omit it or add a drop of rum extract.
