Make creamy, naturally flavored strawberry milk at home using fresh strawberries and a simple syrup base.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups milk (dairy, oat, or almond)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the strawberries soften, about 5 to 7 minutes. The mixture will become syrupy.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the strawberry syrup cool slightly for about 10 minutes.
  4. Mash the strawberries gently with a fork or potato masher to release more juice into the syrup.
  5. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing down on the solids to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids or save them for another use.
  6. In a pitcher, combine the cooled strawberry syrup, milk, and vanilla extract.
  7. Stir well until fully mixed.
  8. Serve immediately over ice, or chill for later use.

Notes

  • For a thicker, creamier drink, use whole milk or add a splash of heavy cream.
  • If you prefer a Korean-style milk, use less water in the syrup step and mash the strawberries thoroughly before straining.
  • This recipe makes a concentrated syrup; adjust the amount added to your milk to control sweetness and flavor intensity.
