Make a thick, creamy, and satisfying smoothie bowl using chocolate, peanut butter, and frozen banana. This recipe is entirely plant-based and perfect for a quick breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large frozen bananas, sliced
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened plant milk (almond or soy recommended)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao powder
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 1 scoop vegan chocolate or vanilla protein powder (optional, for extra protein)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds or flax seeds (optional)
  • Toppings: Granola, fresh banana slices, extra peanut butter drizzle, cacao nibs

Instructions

  1. Place the frozen banana slices, plant milk, cocoa powder, peanut butter, protein powder (if using), vanilla extract, and seeds (if using) into a high-speed blender or food processor.
  2. Start blending on low speed, using the tamper tool constantly to push the ingredients down toward the blades. Avoid adding extra liquid unless absolutely necessary, as this will make the mixture too thin.
  3. Continue blending and tamping until the mixture is completely smooth, thick, and resembles soft-serve ice cream. This may take 1 to 2 minutes of consistent tamping.
  4. Scoop the thick smoothie base immediately into a bowl.
  5. Arrange your desired toppings neatly over the surface of the smoothie bowl for presentation.
  6. Serve immediately with a spoon.

Notes

  • For the thickest bowl, use only the minimum amount of plant milk required to get the blender moving.
  • To make this bowl more nutrient-dense, add 1/4 cup of frozen cauliflower florets along with the bananas; you will not taste them.
  • Prepare smoothie packs ahead of time by placing all dry and frozen ingredients (except the liquid) into freezer bags for quick assembly later.
